where has this saying been my whole life! |
I unintentionally took a break from my blog (work has progressed to warp speed), and I'm back with a ton load of guidance. I am tired. Going to bed at 5a.m. for a week straight has certainly taken it's toll. But my focus has shifted to going back to projects and tasks that I have left unfinished.
I got a new desk in my room which has saved my back from catastrophic agony, and after reviewing a picture I took of my new addition I noticed the half-done collage on my door that I had started...last year. Immediately it struck me that there were several unfinished things, large and small, I had been neglecting.
It's not that I have given up on any of them, but rather I have been distracted by newer projects and tasks. So I dedicated last week's late nights/early mornings to finishing the disgustingly tedious collage, tearing through countless magazines and a roll of tape. My goal was not to make a masterpiece but to finish what I started.
I then made a list of items I need to complete:
- Self-made dress June 6th
- Book of poetry - only four poems short June 15th
- One-Woman Play...long overdue June 30
- Produce festival in August (since I'm doing the majority of the planning this needs to be a priority)
- Open up event space by September
I LOVE this list. It brings me a mix of excitement, creativity and sleep deprivation. It's pretty crazy and bold, but I cannot be stopped. Attaching a deadline certainly adds perspective and urgency. Experts would say that's a recipe for success - I would second that. Ralph Marston has an amazing quote: There are plenty of difficult obstacles in your path. Don't allow yourself to become one of them. I know that if I keep on the path of working towards my dreams I can will anything into existence.
Now I did number my list to work on one project at a time because Jah knows that I am not a efficient multi-tasker.
Take a look at your own life and see whether there are any projects or tasks that have been collecting dust, no matter how insignificant or heavy they might seem. Finishing them will bring ridiculous clarity and fulfilment.
